The purpose of this project is to take children off the streets and put them in classrooms. Africa boasts an alarmingly large number of young school drop-outs. Well-adjusted, happy children free of need and full of promise are the best thing that can happy to a country, continent and the world at large. Abuse, neglect and deprivation are far more dangerous and devious than most people realize.
Hawking is prevalent in African societies. In Nigeria for instance, children are often forced to lead blind relations around to beg for alms and are sometimes forced to beg for the alms themselves. These children are often deprived of education, clean clothing, shelter, and good nutrition. In Northern Nigeria, these children are often referred to as ‘Almajiri’. The purpose of this project is to engage Civil society organizations, the various levels of Government, the wider public, and the International Community in contributing towards seeing children back in classrooms.
